Makela Performance will work with you to create a learning and performance support system with three primary characteristics.
|
Job AidsIf an operator or technician on the job has ready access to instructions and guidelines for performing tasks, solving problems, and making decisions, training can be simplified, and sometimes eliminated. Makela Performance can create job aids that can be available where the work is done, are easy to search through, and easy to use. Comprehensive technical manuals in 3-ring binders may work for an engineer sitting at a desk, or a mechanic working in the shop, but not for an operator standing at a machine. |
Learning by DoingLearning exercises built around real tasks, problems, and decisions will insure that the right information is presented at the right time and in the right context to make learning easier and improve retention. Your instructor can serve as helper and coach instead of lecturer, answering questions as they arise and providing feedback and guidance as needed by each individual learner. The instructor will know that students can handle the most important tasks, problems, and decisions because the instructor has watched them do it. |
Modular StructureModular design allows training to focus on only those tasks, problems, and decisions that apply to a specific equipment configuration or a specific application. Modular design also allows training to adapt to variations in how responsibilities are assigned in different plants. Exercises and information content are grouped in modules designed to link together in predetermined sequences. The plan defines how modules can be interchanged, re-ordered, added, or eliminated to adapt to each user's specific needs and circumstances. Modular design reduces or eliminates the need to create new materials for each new customer. |
