Analysis and Planning

Analysis begins by identifying the tasks, problems, and decisions people face on the job, and the circumstances under which they work. MPI uses a proven strategy for asking the right questions of the right people in order to gain that understanding. Together we can then identify what kind of help those people need in order to be successful, and where and when they need it.

Planning will be guided by two fundamental principles. First, the goal is on-the-job performance, and the best kind of support is that which is accessible on the job at the moment of need. Second, learning is an individual activity, and each individual is unique in their needs and in their readiness and ability to learn. Training must accommodate individual differences if it is to be effective.

Developing Resources

MPI can develop resources that can be delivered to the right people at the right time and place, and can truly help them perform tasks, solve problems, and make decisions.

Resources may include:

MPI can show you how to reduce reliance on classroom training, and increase the use of resources that can be accessed on the job at the moment of need.

Training and Coaching

Resources such as training programs and documentation are ineffective unless they are delivered to the right people at the right time and place, and used in the right context. MPI can train and coach those who are responsible for supporting learners so that they can use these resources as tools to do their jobs more effectively and at less cost. MPI can show them how to continually improve the effectiveness of these resources, and thus continually improve Performance on the job.

MPI can conduct seminars for managers to help them better understand the human learning process, and improve the climate for learning within your organization. (Click for details)

MPI can conduct seminars for trainers and instructional designers to help them learn how to create learning experiences that can be adapted to the needs of individuals, and used in more places by more people at lower costs than conventional classroom training. (Click for details)

To find out if training, documentation, and other support resources are really helping people perform you must ask them and the people who work closely with them. Whether you learn from the process depends on how, when, and where you ask the questions. MPI can help you gather feedback to discover how well you are meeting peoples' needs and whether your assumptions about them were accurate. MPI can help you decide what questions to ask, how, when and where to ask them, and what to do with the answers after you've collected them.
